Character Information:
Character Name: Jorge-052
Age: 41
Canon: Halo: Reach
Appearance: Jorge is a 7'4" super-soldier. He doesn't look deformed, but his build matches his height in solid muscle. His eyes are hazel, his hair brown but seems to be greying, and his body has countless battle scars, most notably over his left eye.
Personality: Jorge-052 is what you would typically expect of a SPARTAN-II Commando. Solid and steadfast in his attitude, taking a no-nonsense, military edge to most of his actions.
Due to his training, Jorge is far superior than a normal human. He doesn't seem to let it go to his head, or use that power to boost his own ego. He mainly concentrates his efforts on performing his duty, his mission, and protecting as many people as he can.
His training is important to mention, too, as it was key to Jorge becoming the man he is today. He was captured as a boy, barely six years old, and taught how to kill and survive, but also had honour and the differences between right and wrong drilled into him. Being from a close-knit group, Jorge has always seen his fellow SPARTAN-II's as family, being able to relate to and, because of their similarities in mental and physical make-up because of the selection process, his closest friends.
In canon, Jorge is seen to be more caring than his fellow SPARTANs. He seems to be able to deal with civilians a lot better, even going out of his way to help them at times.
Despite this, his 30 years of battle-field experience have made him a force to be reckoned with. Being the only SPARTAN-II on Noble Team seems to have forced him to earn a place of respect amongst the others. The differences in their training, and the fact that they had a SPARTAN-II training the III's, means that the III's on Noble were likely intimidated by Jorge's presence. This, obviously, causes tension between them, as no supersoldier likes to be intimidated.
Jorge seems lax and easygoing, when not in battle. That, and he seems to consider his team family. It is likely these qualities that lead him to be accepted into Noble, and considered a full member of the team.
Jorge is seen interacting with a civilian girl in a calm, almost soothing way. The other SPARTANs on Noble Team just ignore her. Emile-A239 says something about Jorge forgetting what he is at times. Jorge then snaps at Emile, moving as if he was going to hit his teammate for that comment. He probably would have, if Carter hadn't gotten in the way.
Jorge is seen to have a compassionate side, as he seems to care what happens to the civilian girl, even in face of the scorn from his team-mates. Emile, in particular. When Jorge says to Carter that she'll need a full psychiatric workup, Emile comments that "she's not the only one." This indicates that, Emile, at least, thinks that compassion may be a weakness in SPARTANs
Jorge's relationship with Emile seems to be mostly rivalry. The above examples show that in abundance. There are examples of, especially after Jorge dies in canon, the fact that Emile actually cares pretty deeply for Jorge, the most notable being when he destroys two Covenant vehicles, proclaiming that their destruction was for Kat and Jorge.
The rivalry between Emile and Jorge could stem from the fact that Jorge is considerably more experienced, tougher and intimidating than Emile.
Jorge seems to be on good terms with Catherine Halsey, the instigator of the SPARTAN program. This may be due to the fact that, as a SPARTAN-II, Jorge considers Halsey to be something of a mother figure. This causes tension between Jorge and the SPARTAN-III's on Noble Team, because it's obvious that Halsey has a preference for Jorge, as he's a SPARTAN-II, and a product of her own research.
This is shown when she contacts Noble, threatening to have Carter and Catherine thrown in a brig for accessing restricted material. In contrast, she greets Jorge warmly, and only sounding disappointed when she found out he modified her design of the MJOLNIR armour.
Jorge's relationship with Noble Six seems to improve over the course of the Fall of Reach. This may be due to the fact that, as the newest member of Noble, Jorge feels some sort of similarities as an outsider to a new team.
This is also an example of how quickly Jorge can make friends and allies with new people. Noble Six is also shown as a "lone wolf" at times, so Jorge getting close to them can be seen as another example. Their relationship grows so much that Jorge entrusts his dog-tags to Six, knowing he wasn't going to make it.
This shows that Jorge, at least, trusts Six enough to hold onto his memory.
Being born on Reach, Jorge has a passion for protecting the planet and its people. He even goes as far to sacrifice his life, believing that he did it to save it.
Drawing from this, it's safe to assume that Jorge will get on well enough with other UNSC personnel. It is doubtful he'll pay attention to such things as the rivalry between the SPARTAN corps and and ODST corps and, when teamed up with them, will show the same dedication as he would with Noble
All in all, Jorge seems to represent many different character traits. As a soldier, he is deadly, calculating, and fierce. As a teammate, he is dedicated and a strong link, and, as a friend, he is loyal, protective and caring. He does not seem to shy from letting his humanity show, when it is necessary, but, in equal measures, is unafraid of displaying the fact that he's a born and bred killing machine.
If you are apping a character arriving from another game: N/A
Background:
Right here!
Canon point: Jorge's canon point will be just before the slipspace bomb that kills him detonates, just after he's shoved Noble Six out of the Covenant Corvette. It would be interesting to app him from this point, because of the absolute confusion, shellshock and culture shock this will cause.
If you are apping a character arriving from another game: N/A
Special Abilities: Jorge is genetically augmented. He's bigger, faster, stronger and more intelligent than most other humans. He does not have any special powers, no magic or anything like that. Just superior strength and intelligence.
Sect: Republic Military
Job: Soldier; Heavy Weapons Specialist, if possible
Samples:
First Person: [A gruff voice comes from the speaker. It sounds particularly annoyed.]
How the hell does this thing work?! [A grunt] I've got no clue. Where the hell's Kat when you need her? She'd understand all this techno junk.
[A pause] And where the hell is my armour? I swear, it is not the best idea to mess with a SPARTAN's armour.
Third Person: They just kept coming...
Jorge and Noble Six had managed to successfully land on the Covenant corvette, and Six had successfully plotted the course to refuel that would dock it with the Supercarrier. All they had to do was defend the bomb.
Easier said than done, right?
This was a Covenant corvette. It was swarming with the bastards. And even Jorge was feeling the strain.
He normally enjoyed watching those Covvie runts fall from the blasts of his heavy machine-gun, their corpses twitching from the high-speed shots. But not today. This ws important, and they had the fate of Reach in their hands.
Reach... His homeworld. Jorge knew he couldn't mess about today. Emile always scorned him for his passion for Reach. He didn't understand. None of them did.
...Not that he blamed them.
After the, seemingly endless, waves of Covenant seemed to die down, Jorge finally goes to the bomb.
What?! Broken! The remote transmitter was broken! And, what was another inconvenience, the path back to the Sabres was damaged by the assault on the corvette by the Savannah.
He looks back to Six, his mind already made up. This would stop Reach getting glassed any further, right? He had to stay and detonate the bomb himself...
He reaches and tugs off his dog-tags, pressing them into Six's hand, before lifting the smaller SPARTAN-III bodily off the ground, after explaining what he's going to do, he shoves Six out of the corvette. His last words were:
"Tell 'em to make it count!"
Anything Else: I'd like to start Jorge off as being unaware of how he got here and what to do. No preference on roommate, but they will be faced with a very confused and angry supersoldier!
